Oh, the Glasgowhill crew! I love these guys to pieces. Their very personalities describe them to a tee. First of all there is Shimmer (Glasgowhill’s Shimmering Dune). I first saw Shimmer the summer of 2006. I fell in love with her face and talked to Sandi about her. During the time that we talked Sandi kept telling me there was a puppy that she thought was better than Shimmer, but I was adamant about having Shimmer. When the time came to ship her Sandi told me that she was sending the other puppy too, and that I would fall absolutely in love with her. Sandi was calling her Sunshine. Well, Shimmer and Sunshine arrived in Richmond in October of 2006 and Sandi was right, Sunshine was fabulous! Both girls are aptly named. Shimmer just shimmer’s with personality and warmth, but Sunshine is a true ray of Sunshine. Shimmer is an independent girl who has never really bonded with anyone here but her sister. Sunshine is a love bug, especially with Hubby. She rubs all over him to mark him with her scent and then bathes his face with kisses. Shimmer tolerates both of us and will give kisses grudgingly. Both girls have been shown, Shimmer being the more stoic in the ring than Sunshine. Sunshine enjoys the shows, but feels that it’s playtime and everyone should adore her. Shimmer and Sunny turned two in July 2008.
Then we have Biggie (Glasgowhill’s Notorious B.I.G.). On my trip back up to Canada to pick up Tabitha I had a chance to see Jackpot’s first litter. They were born just before Sandi left for the Nationals in 2007. Now mind you, I am not a rough person. I appreciate all the hard work that goes into having a rough, but I have never kept a rough puppy born here at Dune Collies. Well…..I stayed a week visiting with Sandi and got to know all the puppies from Jack’s litter. I was really impressed with what he produced and fell in love with Biggie. I told Sandi that he was a really nice boy and she offered him to me on a co-ownership. OMG, what was Hubby going to say…LOL. So I brought Biggie home for about three months, then Sandi asked me to bring him back up so that she could show him. So off we went in September, Hubby in tow for his first visit, to Sandi’s. Biggie stayed with Sandi and was shown. He has 5 points towards his Canadian Championship and soon I hope to get him back up there to finish. Biggie returned with me when I came back from Sandi’s in March of 2008. He was shown one time here in Richmond and I must say, even though we didn’t win, he will finish easily here in the States. Biggie is my Hubby’s dog, and hubby calls him Mike. This dog will do anything my Hubby asks him to do and is the biggest goofball you have ever met. Biggie has a wonderful personality that makes you just want to grab ahold of the big ruff of his and smother him in kisses. And he would welcome it. Of all the dogs I own Biggie is the epitome of what a collie temperament should be!
Due to downsizing I no longer own either Biggie or Shimmer. Both are in wonderful pet homes where they are loved and adored.
